Internship
IAESTE training placements are available in Industrial and Commercial Organizations, Research Institutes, Laboratories and Academic Institutions covering a wide range of disciplines in Engineering & Technology, Natural Sciences and other allied subjects including Economics, Commerce, Management and English. Since IAESTE training is a reciprocal programme, each offer for internship for an Indian student in a foreign country will result the same opportunity for a foreign student in India. Normally, the duration of internship is between 8 to 12 weeks from June to December, although training up to one year is sometimes available.
There are three broad categories of work offered through IAESTE for the students:
Research and Development offers:
Offers in this category are often laboratory based, dealing with specialized work. They entail some element of diagnostic analysis, testing and evaluation with some theoretical content. Such offers will normally be filled by advanced level students. These offers could also be useful for diploma, project or thesis work.
Professional Offers:
These offers entail specialized professional work and the level of skill normally found in more advanced students. They often deal with special project work, possibly in a design office, in technical management or in testing services.
Working Environment Offers:
These offers cover operational activity and usually involve on site or assembly work related to the production process. Through these placements students gain experience in a hands-on working environment.
SELECTION PROCESS
The name and address of the IAESTE-India-KU student member will be entered on a mailing list. (If you are not a member, you should register your interest in IAESTE by completing the registration and become a student member of IAESTE-India-KU).
After the general conference of IAESTE held in January every year. The foreign offers available to Indian students will be published in the website, In order to intimate the details to the member students.
In addition to the above exchange offer, other foreign offers which are available from time to time will also be displayed in IAESTE India-KU website.
The member students who are interested in the available foreign offer should complete the Application for Foreign Offer and mail it to IAESTE India-KU
Inevitably demand will be greater than the supply of training offers. Selection panels will view all applications and one student will be chosen per placement according to qualifications, previous practical experience, language abilities, level of interest and general suitability for the position. Every effort will be made to strike a regional balance between applicants from throughout India.
At the end of this selection process, one Indian student will be chosen for each foreign training offer available. IAESTE India-KU will then forward your completed application to the IAESTE office in the host country; it will be their responsibility to liaise with the employer and ascertain whether you have been accepted. Because of the stringent matching process and the fact that ultimately only one student may be nominated for a foreign placement, at least 95% of IAESTE nominees are accepted by foreign employers. Sometimes the offers may be withdrawn due to economic recession or unforeseen reorganization within companies.
The provisionally short listed students by IAESTE India-KU committee will be intimated for forwarding the following documents to IAESTE India-KU by registered post or courier.
- Completed Student Nomination Form.
- Covering letter from the student to the foreign employer.
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae.
- List of subjects studied during the course.
- Photocopies of Mark sheets and Experience Certificate.
- Original certificate from the Principal or Head of the Department, stating that the internship is a mandatory part of the present course of study.
- Photocopy of the Passport.
- Demand draft in favour of "IAESTE-INDIA" payable at Coimbatore towards Processing Fee and Placement Fee.
- The Placement Fee is refundable if the nominated student is rejected by the company or if the foreign employer withdraws from IAESTE internship obligations.
- The Placement Fee will not be refunded
- If the nominated student who is selected by the foreign employer chooses to withdraw his candidature
- If his/her visa is rejected or unduly delayed by the Embassy / Consulate.
All the finally selected member students will be intimated by IAESTE India-KU for applying for visa and preparation of other relevant documentation.
